REAL BRIDE: Megan
Kamron + Megan
7.12.19
Happy [ just over ] one year anniversary, Kamron + Megan! We’ve been [ selfishly ] keeping this blog post a secret for [ basically ] a year now + it’s finally time to share it with the world! Kamron + Megan’s wedding day at Eighteen Ninety in Platte City, Missouri definitely goes down in the books as one of our favorites of all time + you’ll see what we mean as you scroll through their gorgeous day down below!
Megan went with a custom Casablanca Bridal gown that couldn’t have been more perfect for their summer wedding! It’s light + flowy + looks dang good frolicking through a field of wildflowers - if we do say so ourselves.
The Garber’s wedding day was captured by the MAGNIFICENT Meredith Graves Photography + like… woah. Knocked it out of the park - as always. Tired of hearing me r a v e about Kamron + Megan + their best day ever? Scroll down + thank me later.
How did the two of you meet?
“We went to the same college at the same time - University of Central Missouri - but we were dating other people at the time + didn’t know each other. A year or two later, our paths crossed + we met through mutual friends. We met on a summer night when our mutual friends were hanging out at a bar during Hot Country Nights at Power + Light.”
Tell us about the proposal!
“After almost three years of dating, Kamron proposed to me at the Grand Canyon out on one of their view points while we were on vacation with my family. It was the second best day of my life after our wedding day + he did it perfectly. I was so surprised + was grinning from ear to ear the entire day.”
How did you decide on July 12th?
“We decided to get married on July 12th because my husband is a waterfowl guide + avid hunter + I am in my second year of nurse practitioner school so summer time worked out best for our busy schedules. We also looked into the venues availability + July was one of the few available openings. I could only envision myself having our reception at Eighteen Ninety ever since I saw that beautiful venue.
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
“I wanted an elegant, classic, traditional wedding look or theme. I have always loved shades of red + knew that I wanted my bridesmaids to be in a dark red or wine color. Kamron didn’t want to follow the navy or black tux trend + he wanted to go with something more unique like dark charcoal grey tuxes so I went with grey + silver tones, with white + black added in. We chose white + greenery for the flowers to go with the classical, timeless look.”
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
“I have many favorite moments from our wedding day but my top memory is reading Kamron’s personal vows privately before the ceremony. We didn’t end up doing a first look + reading those vows was exactly what I needed before walking down the aisle + seeing him for the first time. Another close runner up was putting my dress + veil on for the first time after getting my hair + make up done + finally seeing everything all put together. It made everything more real + like it was finally happening.”
What advice would you give to other brides in regard to dress shopping?
“My advice in regard to dress shopping is to not bring a lot of people with you. I would only bring maybe four or five people max because it can get very overwhelming the more people you bring. My only other advice is to go with your gut instinct when you are looking for your dress. If you try on a dress + you get that butterfly feeling when you have it on, 9 out of 10 times that’s probably your dress even if you want to go look at other stores just to make sure. I customized my gown + I had a lot of anxiety with my dress because I didn’t know how it was going to look when it came in or if it was going to be exactly how I envisioned it because you go so long without trying it on. But when my dress came in + I tried the finished product on for the first time, it was the most amazing + perfect dress I could have ever imagined - even better than what I thought. All that worrying was for nothing. It is important to remember that bridal boutique’s help women find their dresses every day + they are professionals so they know exactly how to give you the dress you envision. So know what style of dress you want, go with your gut instinct + know that some dresses are customizable if you want to change a few things about some dresses. Just try to not stress about your dress while you are waiting for it to come in, it will be perfect!”
How did you know your dress was the one?
“I honestly didn’t know my gown was the one because I made some changes + customized my dress. When I tried on the original dress for the first time, I knew that was the one I wanted to go with because I could see myself walking down the aisle in that style of dress + I felt beautiful in it. I knew I wanted a few different things in my bridal gown then what the original had but Something White listened to exactly what I envisioned + told me we could make those changes. The designer, Casablanca, was able to add those changes for me + it ended up being my dream dress.”
Where did you draw your inspiration + ideas from?
“I drew a lot of my inspiration + ideas from Pinterest + the many weddings I have been to previously. Kamron + I are somewhere in the middle of all of our friends getting married so we’ve been to our fair share of weddings. From the weddings we’ve been to, we were able to pull certain things we liked from them + know what we didn’t want to do in our own wedding.”
Congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Garber!
Wishing you the sweetest in your newest adventure of marriage!
