REAL BRIDE: Mackenzie
Taylor + Mackenzie Locke
5.18.19
Launching back into posting on the blog after a couple weeks off + couldn’t think of a sweeter couple to show off today! Mackenzie said yes to a strapless La Sposa gown during her appointment, with the vision of customizing an illusion neckline in alterations. After Mackenzie’s gown arrived in shop, we sent her to our friend, Janay of Janay A. Eco Bridal Alterations + she altered Mackenzie’s strapless gown the illusion dream you see below!
Mr. + Mrs. Locke tied the knot in Wichita, Kansas this spring on a rainy Saturday + you can view all of their highlights down below!
How did the two of you meet?
“Taylor + I have known each other since 6th grade as we went to middle school + high school together, but we did not start dating until we left for college. Taylor graduated from Kansas State University + I graduated from The University of Central Missouri in 2016. We returned back home to Wichita to work for a few years.”
Tell us about the proposal!
“Taylor proposed on Valentine’s Day 2018. He + I went out to one of our favorite restaurants + when we returned home, he had our dog, Lanie, with a new collar + keychain on it that read, “Will you marry my dad?” It was very sweet!”
How did you decide on May 18th?
“We ended up choosing the date May 18th, 2019 because we wanted a spring wedding + needed a year or so to plan out the wedding. I started my master’s program in anesthesia in January 2019, so we had a bunch of the wedding planned prior to me leaving for school.
What advice would you give to brides in regard to dress shopping?
“My advice for brides in picking out their wedding gown would be to trust their consultant + be open to designs other than what you think you’ll want when you go in. I cannot thank Something White Bridal + Janay A Eco Bridal for helping me in finding my gown + then customizing it to make it one of a kind + the perfect dress for me. I received many compliments on the gown + I felt so comfortable + beautiful in my gown all day. I wouldn’t have changed a thing from my dress shopping, wedding planning, or the wedding day!”
“Taylor + I had an amazing + very blessed wedding celebration that we are both so thankful for.”
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
“There were numerous moments from our wedding day that I loved. Some of my favorite moments on our wedding day were when I first put on my dress. It was only my mom + I in the room. This was a very special + intimate moment for us both. She has always been the one with me throughout all my years of dress shopping, so I wanted it to just be her + I when I put on my most favorite dress of all time! Another special moment was at the end of night after singing “Sweet Caroline” surrounded by all our friends + families, the DJ kicked everyone out to get ready for the grand exit. Taylor + I finished the night on the dance floor by ourselves dancing to “From the Ground Up.” That is a moment that I will cherish forever.”
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
“The main theme for the wedding ceremony + reception was a mix of classic elegance. My mom has a lot of expertise in event planning, so she was the key player in our wedding turning out beautifully!”
Congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Locke!
Marriage looks good on you + we can’t wait to see what the future brings you!
