REAL BRIDE: Layne
Gavin + Layne Webster
06.30.18
Okay, this one makes me cry. Maybe it's the greenery, the huge contagious grins, or how sweet Layne was at every appointment we had together, but I feel all the feels when I view this wedding day. Seriously though, can we talk about the Webster's style game? It's u n r e a l + so so good. This June wedding is full of simplistic details that scream summer + timeless. Keep scrolling for the biggest smiles you'll ever see in your entire life.
What made you decide to get married on June 30th?
"We decided on a summer wedding because I am a teacher! It was also a good time for our families + gave us enough time to plan after getting engaged."
How did you + Gavin meet?
"Gavin + I have known each other since we were in Kindergarten. We went to Sunday School together + grew up a few blocks from each other. We began dating my senior year of high school + Gavin's junior year."
Tell us about the proposal!
"Gavin + I went out to a lake outside of Independence to a hiking trail. The trail is lined with trees + he had tied frames to the tree trunks that held photos of us throughout our years of dating along the walkway. There was a rock that overlooked the lake along the trail where Gavin had laid a blanket + candles - that is where he proposed! It still gives me goosebumps! My twin sister was hiding in the trees capturing the entire event with her camera, too!"
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
"We wanted everything to be very simple! Lots of white + greenery. I am indecisive when it comes to colors, so I thought white would be the best move! Haha!"
Where did you find inspiration while planning?
"Pinterest - of course! Also, wedding blogs + The Knot."
How did you know your gown was "the one"?
"The feeling is real! I could picture myself walking down the aisle + I knew Gavin would love it. It felt right + I didn't wonder what else was out there - I loved it that much."
What advice would you give to other brides in regard to dress shopping?
"Be open minded. When I was shopping for my dress, the dress that I ended up saying 'yes' to was a dress that the girls at Something White picked out as a 'wild card.' I would have never picked it out on my own. Also, LOVE YOUR BODY. Your fiance loves you for you - so don't compare yourself to brides you've seen on The Knot or Pinterest. No one will ever be a bride like YOU! This was a very stressful part of my wedding experience because I wanted people to think 'wow she is little or her arms look toned.' I finally had to realize that my wedding was not for anyone except for myself + Gavin. Looking back, I wish I wouldn't have spent so much time trying to impress others with my physical appearance."
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
"The toasts - listening to other peoples perspectives on our relationship was so special + of course walking down the aisle!"
Congratulations on your newest adventure, Layne + Gavin!
Wishing you a lifetime of love + laughter.
