How did you decide on May 26th?

"We decided on May 26th because I really wanted an outdoor ceremony. I was hoping it wouldn't be too hot by the end of May + while it could have been worse, it definitely wasn't a breezy 75 degrees. Also, I am finishing up pharmacy school, so we wanted the summer to get adjusted to married life!"

Tell us a little bit about your love story!

"Blake + I met the summer after we graduated high school. He had plans to go to K-State + I was headed to KU, so we weren't sure how things would work out. Despite the distance, we continued to date throughout college. All the trips to Manhattan, dates to the movies, ice cream runs + all the other small things meant so much more because we didn't get to see each other every day. After dating for three + a half years, Blake proposed at Overlook Point in Manhattan. After the proposal, he had planned an engagement party with our friends + family. It was a moment I will never forget!"

How did you + Blake meet?

"We met the summer after we graduated high school. We were both invited over to a friend's house to write thank you notes from a graduation party + the rest is history! But really, I noticed something different about him (in a good way) + we spent the summer getting to know each other more before he asked me out right before we left for college."

When did you know Blake was "the one"?

"I knew Blake was the one pretty soon after we started dating. He was the most humble, honest + caring guy I had ever met. He was intentional with our relationship + made time for us, despite the distance between us + the first semester of college being pledgeship for him. In addition to that, he could always make me laugh + bring me back down to earth when I tend to get stressed + worry about the future."

What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?

"Hands-down, my favorite moment from our wedding day was after I walked down the aisle with my dad. I stood beside Blake + the pastor had us turn to face all our wedding guests. He said something along the lines of 'look out at all the people who helped get you to where you are today... really look... make eye contact' + I was so emotional. I was standing next to the man I loved the most, seeing friends + family who had invested in me, in different seasons of my life. I am a people person, so what made my wedding day so special was getting to celebrate with loved ones."

Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?

"Bright, sorbet florals that were flowy + whimsical. We went for a boho feel. We decided on wooden + wire accents + kept it pretty simple. Our venue had beautiful exposed brick that really spoke for itself. We also had a brunch wedding (breakfast is my favorite), so the ceremony + reception were early in the day."

Where did you draw inspiration from while planning?

"A lot of my inspiration came from Pinterest. I had never seen anyone do a daytime, brunch wedding... so Pinterest really helped spark ideas."

What advice would you give to other brides in regard to dress shopping?

"Have a budget in mind + don't try on dresses that are way out of that budget. That is something I loved about SWBB! At one point, I chose a dress that I liked without looking at the price + Paige didn't pull it + let me know that it was quite a bit out of my price range. I was super thankful for that!"
