REAL BRIDE: Lexie
Johnny + Lexie
7.24.20
We are suckers for weddings at Eighteen Ninety Event Space in Platte City, Missouri + we are head over heels in love with Lexie + Johnny’s simple + elegant wedding. Although the two had initially planned on tying the knot of June 6th, they quickly realized that their ultimate goal was to have a day that was safe + worked with all vendors, so they postponed to July 24th.
The slate blue bridesmaids dresses contrasted perfectly with the neutral + stunning as heck bouquets created by Couture Wedding Flowers Kansas City. We can’t get enough of the personalized touches + small details that made Lexie + Johnny’s day speak to who they are as a couple.
Get ready, babes, Lexie + Johnny’s special day was photographed by Sarah Dean Photography + it is totally pin-able!
What made you decide to get married on July 24th?
“We originally planned for June 6th, but we postponed to July 24th because it worked for every single one of our vendors. They were incredible + so supportive with the date change.”
How did you know your gown was the one?
“I tried on a few dresses, but when I put on my wedding dress for the first time, I walked to the front of the shop + looked in a mirror + in that moment I really felt like a bride. I turned + my mom + I both had tears in our eyes. I LOVED my dress. It was absolutely perfect + I received so many compliments!”
Where did you draw your inspiration + ideas from?
“We used Pinterest a lot to find ideas for the wedding + we followed a lot of different wedding professionals on social media.”
How did the two of you meet?
“Johnny + I met in middle school + have been together since.”
Tell us about the proposal!
“Johnny proposed on January 2, 2019 at the World War 1 Memorial overlooking Kansas City. We both grew up in KC + downtown is one of my favorite places to be, so it was perfect.”
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
Lexie: “Our ceremony was absolutely incredible. I had butterflies leading up to the ceremony time, but the moment I saw Johnny at the end of the aisle, I was completely calm + could not stop smiling. We had so many family members who helped out during the ceremony, which made it all the more special.”
Johnny: “Seeing Lexie in her wedding dress as she walked down the aisle.”
What advice would you give to other brides in regards to dress shopping?
“When I went shopping for my dress, I was able to schedule an appointment during the week where I was the only bride in the shop + it was really so special. I’d recommend that to other brides.”
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
“We really wanted our wedding to be simple + elegant. We went with dusty blue bridesmaid dresses which went perfectly with the classic black tux. We accented with gold details + white flowers with lots of greenery.”
Congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Weidmaier!
Wishing you the best in this newest adventure of marriage!
