REAL BRIDE: Kelly

The sweetest day for the sweetest couple! Kelly and Matt’s rustic Oklahoma wedding had our jaws on the floor so we knew a blog post was in order. Keep scrolling for all of the details of their stunning day and don’t forget to share with your friends for all the winter wedding inspiration!
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
“I knew I wanted something simple, elegant and rustic which is more of my style. Once I picked my venue I just based a lot of my décor and color choices off of the vibe I got from the venue and what I was trying to achieve.”
How did you two meet?
“We met at Fort Hays State University in a Nutrition class. He was a football player and I was an athletic training student so we weren’t technically supposed to date so we hid it from everyone for awhile.”
How did the proposal happen?
“It was the very last football game of his senior year and my senior year in the athletic training program. After the game both of our families were there and this was the first time they had met each other because he is from Wisconsin and I am from Colorado. We were taking a group picture and then he got down on one knee. He also surprised me with my best friend who I had no idea was there! I had no idea it was coming and was completely surprised.”
Favorite moment on wedding day?
“Walking down the aisle to Matt. We didn’t do a first look so the moment was so special and one I will remember forever.”
How did you know your gown was “the one”?
“If I’m being completely honest, I don’t know if I had a moment exactly where I knew. Dress shopping for me was very overwhelming. The dress I picked I will say I felt the prettiest in, it fit my vision/vibe, and I felt like a bride in it. I did freak out thinking that since I did not have that oh my gosh this is it moment then I was wrong and shouldn’t have picked that dress but I am here to tell you that not everyone has that moment and that is ok! Don’t freak out and pick the dress you feel will be the one you will be the most excited to put on, on your wedding day.”
What advice would you give to other brides dress shopping?
“My advice for dress shopping is to not overthink your choice because on the day of it is not what you will be thinking about or noticing. I also would say bring only the closest people to you and take their opinions into consideration but do not let them sway you from your dream dress. Find one you are comfortable in and can dance the night away in!”
Congratulations, Kelly + Matt!
We are so excited for you + all that’s to come!
