What made you decide to get married on this particular date?
“We really loved our venue in particular and we knew it would be difficult to get a date for 2024 since we got engaged in late 2023. We went to chat with the venue manager, and she told us that one date had JUST opened up because someone had decided to move theirs and we swooped right in. Weirdly enough, the person who moved their date was my old neighbor!”
Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from?
“Mostly pinterest, TikTok, our photographers’ instagram page :)”
How did you know your gown was "the one”?
“None of the dresses I envisioned looked “bridal” enough for me - I wanted to feel like a princess and that’s exactly how I felt the moment I tried my dress on! I kept coming back to this one again and again, and then when I finally came back to it the last time and added accessories/the veil, it really tied it all together for me :)”
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
“Being able to read our vows to each other in private.”
How did the proposal happen?
“We went back to Iowa for my birthday/an Iowa football game on October 7, 2023. The next day my family took us out to a winery for my “birthday lunch” where Tyler ended up proposing. He invited all of his family and all of our closest friends to surprise me!”
How did the two of you meet?
“We met at a Christmas party our sophomore year of college at the University of Iowa in 2017. My best friend from high school lived on Tyler’s dorm room floor, and she had a party at her apartment and invited both of us. At the time I wasn’t ready for a relationship, but he was persistent and we started officially dating in November 2018.”
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning (if any - colors, features, etc.)?
“I wanted a light, airy, romantic feel for our day. I’ve loved the look of neutral tones from the start of wedding planning, but we added in the black for the mens’ suits and then incorporated it into signage and I think it all looked really good together.”
What advice would you give to other brides in regards to dress shopping?
“Go in with an idea of what you want, but be open minded and try other types of dresses! I went in wanting a sleek and simple dress and came out with a glitzy, beaded ball gown :)”
Congratulations, Erin + Tyler!
We love your love and can’t wait to see all that’s to come for you!
