REAL BRIDE: Sophia
Sophia + Ben
8.18.23
Well, hello, friends! It’s been awhile since we’ve blogged (over a year to be exact) and I cannot think of a better wedding and couple to kick things off again! If you follow Something White in any capacity, you know my brother, Ben, got married over the summer. You also know that Ben married my best friend - so I guess you could call me Cupid. ;)
In all seriousness, I think Ben and Sophia would have found each other in any lifetime. They are best friends and balance each other well. They don’t take l life too seriously and they accept one another. I could go on and on and on - but I know you are really here to see the gown and all the inspiration this day provides!
Ben and Sophia wed at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and continued the festivities with a breathtaking reception at The Guild in Downtown Kansas City. It was there that the Albert’s color palette sparkled under the most beautiful chandelier. The tablescapes were alive with lush blooms and gold accents and as the night unfolded, guests dined, drank and busted some serious moves while celebrating the new Dr. and Mrs. Albert.
August 18th was a perfect day. Full of celebration, happiness, love and memories. You’re in for a treat when you see all the details captured by Brittyn Elizabeth Studios and coordinated by Pretty and Planned! Keep scrolling for the goods and for a special surprise appearance by our family mascot - Sassy The Giraffe.
How did the two of you meet?
“Ben and I met through his sister who I became best friends with while working at Buffalo Wild Wings in college. We knew each other for a few years before we eventually started dating.“
Tell us about the proposal!
"Ben proposed while we were on a weekend trip to San Diego. I was fully convinced he was going to propose the first night of the trip. After the sun had set on our second night with no proposal, I had come to terms with the fact that it wasn’t happening on this trip. About five minutes later, he was down on one knee. It was the best surprise ever. “
What advice would you give to other brides in regard to dress shopping?
"I would recommend familiarizing yourself with inventory ahead of time. It can feel super overwhelming so having a general idea of what’s available and what you like ahead of time makes it feel a bit more manageable. Also, I would recommend not limiting yourself to trying on just one style of dress. What you like on the hanger may be completely different than what you like on yourself. “
How did you know your gown was the one?
“The gown I picked was one of the first ones I tried on. Even though I tried on quite a few others after that I really liked, I came back to mine because it was the only one I couldn’t stop smiling in. “
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
"I knew that I wanted copper to be our main color. My (now) sister in law helped me make a mood board to hone in on our theme. We wanted something warm, rustic and glam. “
Where did you draw your inspiration + ideas from?
"I got a lot of ideas from Pinterest and TikTok. Our vendors also gave us some great ideas and insight that helped tie everything together. “
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
"There were so many moments from our wedding day that I’ll never forget like walking into the church, my dad’s toast and dancing with all our family and friends at our reception. One of my favorite things was at the end of the night, getting to relive it all with my new husband. Even though we were exhausted, we stayed up talking after everyone had left sharing our best moments of the day and basking in the excitement. It really was the best day ever. “
Congratulations, Dr. + Mrs. Albert!
We love you both so much! <3
