Something Furever by Something White

Hey, Babes.

We have quite possibly the cutest, and fluffiest piece of news we could ever share with you, and we promise- it’s something to bark about!

We are thrilled to announce the beginning of our brand new charitable initiative, Something Furever by Something White! We’ve partnered with one of Kansas City’s most loved rescue centers, Unleashed Pet Rescue, in effort to make this dream project a successful reality. Inspired by our team’s collective love of furry friends (especially our beloved shop doggo, Lard) we wanted to give back to Kansas City’s animal community in the most thoughtful way we could think of. Here’s a run down of “The Why” behind Something Furever.

The heart behind the initiative:

We’re obsessed with our pets.

And animals deserve the world.

If you’re familiar with our shop in the slightest, you know we have a fuzzy, four-legged coworker that comes to work with us every day, and totally serves as SWBB’s mascot! His name is Lard, and he is the handsome boy you see up there in the photo. One day, in between making his rounds for daily lap snuggles and treats, us SWBB girls got to talking about how lucky we felt to be able to experience the joy a pet can bring in the midst of difficult moments- even just a quick pet can make all the difference sometimes! Because we have Lard, and the love of our pets at home, our lives are brighter, more fulfilling, and let’s face it- more entertaining. The idea for Something Furever was sparked in a moment of gratitude for all that animals bring to our lives, and we wanted to use our platform as an influential small business for good within our community.

Who can we help?

Where is the need?

There are SO. MANY. amazing pet rescues here in Kansas City, and we love them all. Any organization who has their hearts set on rescuing animals and finding them loving homes gets all the gold stars in the world, as far as we’re concerned. But we had to choose who we partnered with strategically in order to do the most good, and ultimately, we chose Unleashed Pet Rescue in Misson as our Partner. We could not be more excited!

We selected Unleashed for lots of reasons, and we’d love to share. Unleashed is a no-kill shelter, and they take great pride in that. Unleashed takes roughly 30-50 animals into their care every week from high-kill shelters across the region, and are solely dependent on donations. Unleashed is not privately funded in any way, so all funding goes directly back to helping them continue on their mission to “Save them all” (swoon, right?!). In 2021 alone, Unleashed facilitated 5,100 adoptions, and rescued over 5,400 animals.

If that doesn’t make them awesome enough, Unleashed is also in the beginning stages of putting together an outreach program that would include free vaccination, and spay/neuter programs for low income recipients. Needless to say, both of which will require extra supplies, medical equipment, and transportation in order to serve our KC community who may be in need of some extra help caring for their animals.

So basically, Unleashed is our hero.

We said, say less- we’re in!

Putting it into action.

Using our platform as a small business to do some good within our community sounded like the best idea ever, especially after the collective heartache that covid has brought over the last two years. Here’s how it’s gonna go down:

A percentage of our gown sales will be donated to Unleashed every single month. This will be an ongoing initiative beginning April of 2022! In addition, our Brides will have the opportunity to give on their own to Unleashed by way of the Unleashed Wish List. We will have information on Unleashed most-needed items to in shop so that anyone who visits SWBB will have the opportunity to make a difference by enriching the lives of animals in our community, whether they are our customer or not! It’s a win-win for the fur babies and Brides alike.

Fun fact :: SWBB Stylist, Caroline’s kitty, Fitzpatrick, was rescued from Unleashed! We love his big eyes!

Becoming an SWBB Bride means you are directly helping animals in Kansas City.

Suddenly, becoming a Something White Bride just means so much more- and we know how special it is to begin with! We also plan to host “Something Furever Weekends”, where in addition to donating a portion of sales to Unleashed, we will also cover adoption fees for Brides who find their gown with us. HOW FUN IS THAT?! Already have a fur baby? No worries. SWBB will cover the adoption fee for someone close to you in need of a furry friend. We honestly can’t wait for our first SF Weekend. Your wedding dress and a puppy? Or a kitty? Or a bunny? Lizard? Whatever. That sounds like the best weekend ever.

Together, we can save them all.

When it comes to our pets, the phrase “who saved who” comes to mind. At the end of a long day, our pets restore our faith in the world simply by being themselves. They love us unconditionally, and complete our families effortlessly. That’s why this project is so special to us. You may not think that Bridal gowns and rescue animals go together, but we do. Pets are family, and the wedding industry is all about creating families. We are so thrilled to give back to the Kansas City animal community by way of Something Furever. It’s only the beginning!
