REAL BRIDE: Jenna
Jonathan + Jenna Ross
11.04.17
Crisp fall air, a custom Casablanca gown, cranberry + light pink florals, + cozy centerpieces make today's real wedding straight out of a story book romance. While shopping for her wedding gown, Jenna found that she loved a low back with a delicate strap + with Casablanca's help, we were able to create a one of a kind custom gown. We are obsessed with the humongous smiles + intimate details of Jonathan + Jenna's big day. Keep scrolling for all of the goodness!
What made you decide to get married on November 4th?
"I honestly had no preference what season or what month we got married in. Jonathan preferred not to get married during football season, but I didn't want to wait till the spring to get married so thankfully he agreed + let me have my way! We found our venue + they were booked all through August, September + October. November 4th was the next available date so we snagged it!"
How did the two of you meet?
"We have known each other for quite a while through our mutual love of playing volleyball. It is something that to this day, we still play together. Only now we play on the same team instead of against each other!"
Tell us a little bit about your love story!
"Jonathan + I have known each other for probably eight plus years because of playing volleyball. We always played against each other + I'm not going to lie - his team usually won! He sent me a Facebook message one night telling me he had always had a crush on me + had always thought I was the most gorgeous girl he had ever met. It was actually sort of crazy, because about the time he was sending me a message, I had just added him as a friend on Facebook! Fate, right? After playing in a volleyball tournament one day, we decided to go out that evening to No Place where Jonathan requested my favorite song at the time ("Wanted" by Hunter Hayes) + we had our first dance + first kiss. This song ended up being our first dance song at our wedding! We started 'officially' dating September 1, 2012 + the rest is history."
How did Jonathan ask you to become his wife?
"My family means everything to me + Jonathan knows that. I don't see them a whole lot as I am the youngest of five + we all live in different areas. Jonathan + I had never gone ring shopping before as I told him I wanted him to pick out the ring he wanted me to have. However, I did tell him a couple styles I liked! We headed to Kansas to my sister's for Thanksgiving + while we were getting ready to eat + everyone was gathering around to pray, my sister (who knew what Jonathan was about to do) asked 'Does anyone have anything else they need to share or say?' + Jonathan started talking. He said, 'I just want to say how much I appreciate all you guys for taking me in the past 5 years. Jenna has such a great family + I am really thankful to be a part of it. With that being said, Jenna Kay Haecker, will you marry me?' I was totally shocked as he got down on one knee! It meant so much to have that moment in front of my family!"
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
"We didn't have a specific theme, but I am obsessed with the burgundy, gold + greenery look. A different + unique decoration that we used was bed springs. We spray painted them gold + filled them with votive candles! This was inspired by our Aunt Laura! One of my favorite areas of the reception was our cake table - we rented a door + chandelier through Treasure Gardens LLC + used old trays that were spray painted gold + attached legs on some of them. They worked perfect for our cupcakes + cake! I loved the way it looked!"
Where did you draw your inspiration + ideas from?
"Pinterest of course! I feel that is the common place most brides go to these days! So many good ideas, yet so many overwhelming ideas!"
What is one of your favorite memories from your wedding day?
"I have a few... One was walking down the aisle to Jonathan. I was so nervous beforehand as I do not like being the center of attention + didn't like the thought of everyone looking at me. However, as crazy as it sounds, when I walked down the aisle, I didn't even really see people. I saw Jonathan + the thought of people staring at me didn't even cross my mind! I also loved standing up at the alter with Jonathan + listening to my brothers message. My brother was our officiant + it meant a lot to have him marry us! Another moment I really loved was having our dance at the reception with Jonathan, + our two boys - Maddox + Mack. We danced to "Boy" by Lee Brice. It was nice to have a special moment to celebrate our blended family."
Congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Ross!
Wishing you a lifetime of love + laughter.
