Michaela + Joey
8.28.21
This whimsical summer wedding with wildflower flair had all the right pops of color and took place among tall forest trees. With the ceremony set at a classic and woodsy terrace and an adorable couple in love, it doesn’t get more playful than this! Heather Rose Photography nailed the photos and captured the scenic nature perfectly and it all set the stage for this picture-perfect wedding day.
We know this one will make you smile from ear to ear, so keep on scrolling for all of the summertime goodness!
How did you decide to get married on August 28th?
“We got married on August 28th just because summertime makes me happy! :)”
How did the two of you meet?
“We met in college at Washburn University!”
Tell us about the proposal!
“Our proposal happened at the Nelson Atkins. I acted like I had no idea but I knew the whole time! Our friends and family were hiding and all came out to celebrate with us after Joey proposed!”
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
“The theme Joey and I were going for was wildflowers. I actually told my florist, Jori, that I love love love side of the road flowers and she recreated that so well and in the most beautiful way. I’ve always been so into the farmers market and the wildflowers in the area, so I really wanted to recreate that at the wedding and have that florals be the statement.”
How did you know your gown was the one?
“I’m not sure if this is the best answer for when I knew my gown was the one, but I was constantly wondering if I made the right decision about my dress until the day of. When I put on my dress on my wedding day, it felt so right and I knew I made the right choice!”
What advice would you give to other brides in regards to dress shopping?
“I would tell other brides to have a little bit of an idea in their head but don’t overthink it. I have a habit of overthinking everything but when it came to the wedding and my dress, I just wanted to have a good experience. If you just relax and enjoy it, it will be way better!”
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
“My favorite moment was our private last dance. I held my emotions together pretty well throughout the day and I was finally able to relax and just be with my husband. I still tear up thinking about it! It just felt right.”
