REAL BRIDE: Ashton
Alex + Ashton Berhorst
11.24.18
Real talk - today’s wedding is so good that when I ran into Ashton + Alex at a mutual friends wedding, I couldn’t stop gushing over them like a total fangirl. Ashton found her gown with us shortly after I took over the boutique + her custom Paloma Blanca gown has always stood out in my mind as one of my all time favorites [ partially because it’s stunning + partially because the bride makes the gown + Ashton is incredibly sweet .] So basically, I was a huge fan from the day I met Ashton BUT THEN I saw her photos by Brittyn Elizabeth Photography + fully committed to the fan girl life. Ashton had a vision in mind when finding her bridal gown + had no problem tweaking her gown to perfection with the help of her personal bridal stylist.
Mr. + Mrs. Berhorst tied the knot in Jefferson City, Missouri, a year after their engagement + hosted a romantic + classic fall wedding complete with bowties + greenery accents. We are honored to have been a small piece of the puzzle for the Berhorst’s + are so excited to see where their life together takes them next!

How did you know your gown was the one?
“True story - I didn’t even like my gown on the rack. I was dreading trying on the gown that I had picked, but my bridal consultant at Something White convinced me to try this dress on, so I did + I loved it! My mom started crying + that’s when I knew! I made a lot of changes to my dress through the designer + I loved that I was able to customize it a little bit to make it more my style.”
What advice would you give to other brides in regards to dress shopping?
“Go with what you love! You already know what you love, but pick something that feels right + that you feel comfortable in + never want to take off!”
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
“My favorite moment during my wedding day was the first look with my dad! Another memory I love is when we were with our wedding party taking pictures after the ceremony + just celebrating together! To top off the night of our wedding, our photographer snuck us away from the reception for a little bit to go take pictures + we got the cutest pictures for Christmas cards!”
What made you decide to get married on November 24th?
“I always knew I wanted to get married in the fall + our date just so happened to be open with the church + the venue we wanted so we booked it! It was exactly a year from when we got engaged. It was the perfect day in November! The weather was beautiful!”
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
“Romantic + traditional were the two words I used during the wedding planning process.”
Where did you draw your inspiration + ideas from?
“I always knew I wanted black bridesmaid dresses with lots of white flowers + greenery. I had a few things on Pinterest that I grew my inspiration from + it helps when your maid of honor has a mom who does interior design for a living. We were able to use her input as well!”
How did the two of you meet?
“We met for the first time in high school. I was 15 + Alex was 16 when we first met!”
Tell us about the proposal!
“We were back home in Jefferson City + Alex completely caught me off guard. It was simple – just how I wanted it to be! Both of our families were there to celebrate us after it happened!”
Congratulations Alex + Ashton!
We love having you as part of our #swbbkcbride family!
