REAL BRIDE: Lauren
Lauren + Matt
6.26.21
With muted tones, a one-shoulder Madi Lane gown, drop dead gorgeous accessories and a garden party feel, Lauren and Matt’s June wedding has all the makings of a classic and modern wedding celebration. Lauren and Matt enlisted the help of Lovestruck Events to plan their special day and from the artistic florals to the modern signage, we’d say the decision was a great one! Lauren and Matt’s garden party feels intimate and fun and full of happiness. Personally, we’re celebrating the fact that we landed Lauren as a #swbbkcbride and that we get to share her stunning day on the blog! It simply doesn’t get better.
How did the two of you meet?
“Matt and I met at work. We were friends for a while (about 6 months) before we started dating. A story that happened before we started dating: Matt went to San Francisco to our office for work. When he went into our San Fransisco office, he introduced himself to the receptionist. She shook his hand and asked if she could tell him something as she was psychic. Matt was skeptical, but said yes. She told him that pretty soon he was going to be with his soulmate. She told him that he had already met his soulmate, but in a couple of weeks she will realize her feelings for you and the two of you will start dating. A couple of weeks later, we started dating.. it is a pretty crazy story!”
Where did you draw your inspiration + ideas from?
“Lovestruck and Lauritzen do a lot of weddings together. I used the photos that they had of their events there to help with ideas (like the string lights on the dance floor so it looked like we were all dancing outside). I used Pinterest a lot to help with what I like and what I don’t like.”
How did you know your gown was the one?
“I told our stylist I wanted classic but with a little memorable twist to it. Once we tried on every style, she came in with the Madi Lane dress. It was the first one I tried on and said “oooo wow”. I came out and my mom said the same. She nailed it and to this day I love everything about it.”
Tell us about the proposal!
“My parents live in downtown Omaha - the Bob Kerry bridge is in their backyard with a park. It was two days before my 30th birthday and we were going to have dinner at my parents “for my birthday”. We have two dogs, Ted and April, so Matt asked if we would like to go for a walk before dinner with them by the bridge. Once he asked I knew what was happening. But, it was still very special for him to propose at my parents and then have our friends and families come over for a party after!”
How did you decide on June 26th?
“We actually had our date set for 5/1/2021 and always wanted a spring wedding. I never thought it would happen due to COVID for the 2020 weddings. Lauritzen Gardens found out they would be doing a display where our ceremony/dancing was at and didn’t know if we would be able to use it. I was in love with the space so we decided to change the date to 6/26/2021 so we knew we could use that space. “
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
“The tram ride after the ceremony was great so that our wedding party could see more of the gardens they have and we got to take more pictures. I also loved the dance floor and dancing to songs that were popular when Matt and I were in high school. I loved seeing friends and family that I haven’t been able to see for a while. Also, being with Matt. We surprisingly got to spend a lot of time together and it was great to be able to share most of the night with him.”
What advice would you give to other brides in regards to dress shopping?
“Try on every style. I thought I came in knowing exactly what I wanted (an Amsale gown that was a lot more full). My stylist at Something White was amazing because she made me try on every style (even ones that I said I didn’t want to). If you don’t try on every style, lace, no lace or bling no bling, you truly won’t find the one.“
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
“I did not. Lovestruck and I played off of the Lauritzen Gardens to have a garden party type theme. I have always loved muted type colors so we kept that color palette in mind. My style for everything is classic but with a twist. I kept this in mind when picking out all the details.”
Congratulations Lauren + Matt!
