REAL BRIDE: Bethany
Brent + Bethany
10.5.19
When it comes to wedding planning, we are big fans of classic simplicity - you just can’t go wrong! Brent + Bethany kept their color palette clean + simple by utilizing whites, dusty blues + gold, which was both elegant + effortlessly stunning. Their church ceremony + golf club reception spoke for themselves, so we love that they let Wild Hill Flowers + Events add romantic flower arrangements but kept the rest of the decor minimal + clean.
Bethany was breathtaking in a timeless Casablanca Bridal lace gown + dreamy half-up hairstyle + Kelsey Diane Photography’s effortless + laid-back style was the perfect match to capture every emotional, joyful + simply stunning moment of this October wedding!
How did the two of you meet?
“We met when we worked on the same rides at Worlds of Fun back in 2011! He was right out of high school + I was just finishing my freshman year of college. We haven't been together since then but we have known each other for a long time.”
Tell us about the proposal!
“We had gone to look at rings together so I knew it was coming but he still managed to surprise me! We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant [ Rancho Grande ] + shared a pitcher of margs [ how we celebrate all of our big decisions now, ] then we went to English Landing park in Parkville, which is one of our favorite spots. It was dark by then so we were the only people there. We sat on bench by the river + talked for awhile + eventually as he was standing by the river, he had me walk over to him + then he proposed!”
How did you decide on October 5th?
"I had always wanted a Fall wedding! It's my favorite time of year.”
What advice would you give to other brides in regard to dress shopping?
“Have an idea of what you want going into your appointment, do your research + then go with your gut + get what YOU want. It's good to have people there for support, but in the end, go with what you like + not what anyone else wants you to get.”
How did you know your gown was the one?
“My gown fit everything I wanted. Mermaid style, sparkles, lace, still relatively simple though + the GORGEOUS train that sold me on it right away. It just felt natural when I saw myself in it.”
Where did you draw your inspiration + ideas from?
“Pinterest, YouTube + other friends' weddings.”
Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?
“Yes! For colors, we were going with dusty blue, white + gold [ mostly gold. ] Just a simple, romantic, classic theme. + of course lots of pumpkins where incorporated since it was October!”
What was one of your favorite moments from your day?
“One of my favorite moments was when we were taking sunset photos. It was just the two of us plus our two photographers + it was such a gorgeous evening. It had rained all morning so I had accepted that we probably weren't getting our sunset photos, but then it cleared up right after the ceremony + was a beautiful day. I still can't believe how amazing those pictures turned out!”
Congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Schaaf!
Wishing you the best in this newest adventure of marriage!
